I have to ask about OG's policy on KSing.
I went to an area (Big Grave B2) and was going to grind and get dhearts. I saw what appeared to be 2 afk characters (bubbling). So, I started grinding. About the third time I had to rehaste myself (more than 10 minutes later), another mage appeared and starting killing mobs I was already engaged with. He states that I am KS'ing him and he has been in that spot for 6 hours. He said they took a 5 min break.
I purposefully did not attack his mobs, but continued killing. He apparently reported me to Airborne. I explained to him, have a GM contact me, I would be happy to speak to them. I made sure to speak respectfully and truthfully. He continued to try and kill the character I was plvling and also tried to lure all mobs so that I would have to KS to get experience.
Now, being the person I am, I naturally was upset, but decided to leave, not worth a fight. [Experience has told me that those that seem to instigate fights are usually those less apt to deal with the situation favorably] I told him to have fun and wished him luck. It is a good thing he was lipping off to me over the internet
Nevertheless, I am intrigued about how a situation such as this could possibly face a permanent ban. I remember that character saying that I was reported to Airborn for KSing and will be permanently banned. I took SS's of the entire verbal transaction for proof of how I was acting, reasonable and unprovoking. Can I be assured that at a minimum, a GM or someone with authority to ban from OG will at least hear someone elses side of the story before taking actions? I also assume that this scenario will be forgotten, due to more important issues. However, it is still a good time to ensure that Unforgiven members act appropriately and I just want to know where OG draws the line.
BTW: mage was lvl 174 named MrFreeze (it seemed like he was on Sandboxie)
Please, post your thoughts _________________ Y2K11 - Thief

Well, for one, I'm pretty sure you wont get banned. You saw characters bubbling or afk. You did the natural thing to start grinding for exp. They come back and obviously blame you for KS. You did the right thing just by leaving and taking a SS of the entire conversation. You'll be alright. _________________ It aint a game, namsayen? |

you did right, the only way you can ks in redstone is to attack the mob that someone else is already killing, you are not officially ksing by simply killing in the same room/field or whatever. ofc its not polite to kill in some places that others already are, in the same room of a dungeon or places like donut where there is a know lure area. but even then officially you arent ksing unless you attack a mob someone has already hit. _________________ feed me a fruit! |

I agree wholeheartedly, however, this individual mentioned something to the effect that OG Planet has different rules and killing int eh same filed where others are killing is considered KSing.
So....I would like to review OG's policy on KSing. Anyone have a link to those policies? I cannot find them. _________________ Y2K11 - Thief

lol, they cant do that, there are some enourmous fields . also there are more people than there are fields. so some people wouldnt be able to play until they happened to find an empty one lol. _________________ feed me a fruit! |

ahh the argument of reasoning over the impetousness of youth (gotta assume Mrfreeze is #15><)
im surprised he didnt just leave unless he did come back less than 5 mins after you arrived.;p
But this whole 'my section of the map' problem is a real one. i hate it when im in my lil room and some nub comes in and starts attking mobs.*
im sure thats why lots of maps have loads of lil rooms in them. like salty b8....or indeed...GG and BG...going alll the way up to swep, ossy b4-6 .etc..
its like the old saying of "painting the forth road Bridge" - by the time the painters have reached the end, its time to start back at the begining again!
same as room grinding...by the time you have finished working your way along the room..you go back to the start again.
* however, if i have been afk for more than a decent predetermined length of time and someone comes to my lil room - then i feel i have lost the 'rights' to that room and move on. - it just becomes an issue of time. _________________ mystify.....

I recently visited that same area and again, several characters where afk. Before killing, I asked if he was there. No response, so I started killing. He comes back 2 min later and without any words starts killing. He said "I was AFK helping GM's fix the small windows issue"
I simply then ask when he will move on from this place and then leave. I am saved there and from time to time I warp back to check on the status, but if he is there, I leave.
This mentality of this "area" is mine. I agree with areas like donut, etc. that it is unrealistic for multiple pt's for anyone to gain valuable experience. However, when someone is afk for greater than a reasonable time (5-10 min IMHO), if they return and someone else is there, they can politely ask to have their spot back, otherwise the afk paerson should leave. The expression, "You snooze you lose" is so appropriate _________________ Y2K11 - Thief

thats what go by, i'll gladly wait for people to get back (might not show so much in-game) but it does pose a problem for me when people multi-log THEN go afk..just seems like it's wasted space in a pt. or just them coming back and calling you out on KS seems dumb. they went afk, making the grindzone rightfully yours. i mean who knows, someone where they are could have had a heartattack, so they had to go afk. no one knows, but i just go by if they bubble, im going to start killing. _________________ It aint a game, namsayen? |

I even made the comment yesterday to MrFreeze (and our conversation was ironically very nice) "If I come to a spot and see chars afk, how am I suppose to know how long you were afk?" Could have been 5 hours or 5 minutes, who knows. I will ask when they come back if they want this spot back or can we party together. If they don't want to party me and want spot back, I will leave. Unless it is Narok, then I start a KS war (j/k - but I am still bitter about the US/England tie in WC, Englands keeper should have let another one in) _________________ Y2K11 - Thief

|
|
To be honest my solution for kill stealers is to talk to someone they might respect alot, and get them to talk to them, for example, when the server re set about 2 months later my mage was around lvl 240 and i was trying to p lvl a friend at Magic mercs, A famous guild member tried ksing me, so i pm'd mysterio who repsects me, and told his guildie to stop or else he is kicked from guild. This might not always work, but if you can talk to them and find out who they know, hopefully you know them too and they like you, so then you's can come to an understanding, i always talk it out, i never try to ks back. However this wont work good if your not known by anyone, but by lvl 170 most people around your lvl will have an idea of who you are if your a consistent player. |

Mhmm lol...
I'm more rude than you then...
Before we went under OG-planet, i had a similar issue with a -priest/demon at deff hills
I was at deff hills with the tamer (and the mage for buffs), i saw him bubbling... so i start to kill the spiders in main spot (the one next to the exit/entrance of maps)
When i'm full buffed, i can kill every spider in one or two hit (high crits or istant-death), but i need to rebuff myself every two-three minutes (for haste).
After the third haste, this priest, started to say "Ehi this is my zone" and tried to lure (without hitting mobs) with the priest.
In no-time i killed all before he could reach the safetyzone where were the demon :p
"Don't kill the lure, i was here before you"
Me: "But you were afk"
"Yes, and so?"
Me: "So is not your zone, i started to kill here and i don't want to leave"
Then i called my bro seretur a bit for pt with him to have the complete zone and made him leave (with meteor and haste elves)
I follow the rules of the place. When i'm afk (also only for a minute), if one starts to kill in the zone where i was, i leave saying "sorry" .
I don't say "This zone is mine, i was afk". Afk is "not-playing" and "be in a place" is not a rule for "it's mine and you can't kill"
If i can manage to have a party it's ok, if not and i can kill faster than him, i stay until he understand that's not a good idea to stay there if not, i call seretur and if not lol...i leave ^^ _________________ Characters:
